BIOGRAPHY

I work in a computer-related position in the South Bay area of Los Angeles. In addition to living in Los Angeles, I've lived in Europe for two years and also central and northern California. My hobbies include composing music, writing poetry/stories, drawing, tile, photography and other creative expressions. I attended Hawthorne High school (See Cougartown - a site for HHS graduates with an excellent message board ). Also visit the HHS Class of 75 website and the Beach Boys Historical Monument.

Information About My Father
I performed a search for my father's Ellis Island manifest. I knew that our last name used to only have one 's'(my father had told me) and I was aware that his birth year was 1916. I performed a search using 'Ditomaso' for the last name and selected a birth year range of 1913 through 1919. The following entry was found: Matching Passenger Record. I knew that his middle name was 'Chesimo' (the 'n' could be a spelling error). Additionally, I knew that the Italian version of 'Nicholas' was 'Nicola'.

Once having established a free account through the Ellis Island website, I was able to view more detail (could have been born in 1913 - Ellis Island information indicates that he was 7 when he arrived in 1920 - otherwise he was 4). Line 27 of the manifest contained my grandfather's name (Emilio). It appears that 'her husband' on line 27 pertains to my grandfather and the term 'his father' on line 28 pertains father. Line 29 refers to a different individual who came from Scapoli (who may or may not be related). Resulting from this research is that my father came to Ellis Island with his mother on December 19, 1920 having traveled using the immigration ship, Madonna from Naples.
