Ted, I just wanted to say how pleasantly surprised to find out that you were playing at SXSW and actually get to see the show. You sound better than ever. I live in Los Angeles and caught your live radio gig at the KPFK studios sometime in the 80's and now have a well-worn live casette tape from that show. I introduced myself to Fordy and got the "Let There Be Blurt" CD. Any plans on coming out here? Also your Salamander Records link appears to kaput. I tried logging on a few minutes ago.Adam Wolf, tikinoise@earthlink.net

17.11.2003 Hamburg, Astra room "a woman without man is like a fish without bicycle", that was a gladly quoted saying of the American Altfeministin Gloria Steinem. Now Ted Miltons BLURT with a Compilation return named "A Fish Needs A Bike" in the luggage. Beginning of the 80's BLURT for me was still too diagonal with their torn and hypnotischen NO-Wave. End of the 70's in New York, constructing on SUN RA and CAPTAIN BEEFHEART, were Arto Lindsay, Lydia Lunch and James White and the Blacks - and evenly Blurt - the NO-Wave of pioneers. I had discovered straight times Punk and had been already again cut then he by Blurt - Blurt were already a step further. But which Ted Milton with saxophone and singing, Paul Wigens at the schlagzeug and Steve Eagle at the guitar for the something 50 present ones zelebrierten, that was already an extra class. Time journeys and hours of revealing - we had the feeling, this are a historical moment. Diagonally, times with drive, once a singing, then again a rhythmic guitar, a driving schlagzeug and over it Ted Milton's grandioses saxophone play. Diagonally à la Charlie Parker, then again to the Mitwippen and sometimes also only Soundcollagen. And in addition a Ted Milton in the suit and with to the rear put Iro, whispering and crying like David Thomas coupled of PERE UBU with the poetry of Gavin Friday. Even if it took 20 years, BLURT convinced me completely. Kay whisk http://www.triggerfish.de/ox/home.cfm?p=6687

BLURT - The Fish Needs A Bike Salamander record/house music That the CD the sub-title "Let There Blurt! Volume One "leads, lets hope and assume that itself Ted Milton decided to make its complete work (again) accessible. Very praise-worth, because so itself also "young Spatzen, which know still nothing" (M. Goldt) this minimalistic Punkversion of jazz open, knows with which Blurt since the early 80ern was quite successful (and already times on Postpunk/Wave labels such as Factory or Another Side emerged). The subversiven texts are legendary; Ted troetet itself the way by all between psycho radio and afro wave, its brother serves auf's a mindeste one reduced drumkit and Pete Cresse saws courageously the anti-guitar. The-NEXT then asks also "Kenny Rogers ' Greatest hit (Take2)"! http://www.westzeit.de/rezensionen/?id=2310

Thursday, August 26, 2004 Phuckwhitt Phestival line up announced It is with great pleasure, and with only two days to go, that I can announce the line up for The Phirst Phuckwhitt Phestival of the Alternative Arts, which starts on Friday. First night, the headliners are Ted Milton's Blurt, with Bark, Gusset, and The Impressionable Jennifers. On Saturday, we are lucky enough to be joined by Pilot, Smokey, and Sailor, whilst on Sunday I can gleefully announce that the line up is The United States of America, The Fugs, and, ending the whole thing with a life-affirming howl, my old sparring partner Allen Ginsburg. It was he, of course, who importuned me in a cottage off The Fulham Palace Road. If it wasn't for that Philipino lass in Telford, I might be tempted to take up his offer, these days, if I could still get it up.

Saturday, August 28, 2004 Phuckphitt Phestival- First night A somewhat disapointing turn out for the first night of the Phestival. Gusset, despite being offered a most generous rider, seemed unable to find their way to Phuckwhitt, and did not show. To be honest, in their communications with me, I gained the impression that they felt that Phuckwhitt and its Phestival were entirely fictional! The Impressionable Jennifers were excellent, and had a first rate special guest, viz., yours truly, but the audience was a wee bit on the thin side. In fact, it was Ginsberg, The Fugs, Leslie, Mrs. Evans, and old Sid Nolan, who was somewhat the worse for drink. He heckled during my performance, and was escorted from the site by the Ludlow Chapter of the Hells Angels, who Leslie had hired as security, at some considerable expense. Sir Sid is not one to take this kind of thing lightly, and was foolish enough to struggle, so they rendered him insensible with some chains from their motorcycles, and he is currently in intensive care at Hereford County Hospital. By the time Bark came to the stage for their excellent set of improvised noise, The Fugs had drifted away, and Ginsberg had fallen asleep; more fool they, as they missed a thrilling show. Ted Milton and Blurt, though perhaps somewhat lyrical for this company, turned on the style big time, but unfortunetly it started to rain whilst they were playing, and Mrs Evans made her excuses, and took herself off to bed, leaving only me and Leslie. Leslie is not terribly pleased at the turn out so far; in fact, he seems to want to blame me, and my policy of keeping the line up secret until the last possible moment. I can understand his pique; if it goes on like this, we do look like falling a wee bit short of the million pound target. Still, fingers crossed that tomorrows line up of second division seventies pop bands will draw in the crowds!

Hallo! Its like a rebirth! I saw Blurt 1st time '83 in Zeche Bochum and it was one of the most intense gigs I ever saw in my 49 yrs life (and I saw a lot!). I heard or saw nothing about Blurt since Pagan strings CD and I thought they are not existing anymore. By coincidence I found out you're still living and better planning to play in Munich where I'm living now. Is that concert on December 11 confirmed and where do U play (its not stated in your homepage concert list. Please can U give me a short message otherwise I have to travel to Nürnberg some days beforethe Munich gig.

Hey there...saw Blurt yesterday @ Le Nouveau Casino in Paris...that was real nice to hear dis music again since last time I heard it live was @ Theatre Dunois in something like 86-87 I guess...and I was 15 ! So I was kinda worried about what I was goin' to hear & see...Are they playin' electro-pop or some shit now ? I did not have a clue...answer was dem niggaz iz still playin' same'o...and they're right and it felt right, it did not feel sadly repetitive or like they should have move on yearz ago and it still sounded fresh to my ears although music didn't change much...thank u guyz...buyin' a musician myself I dig your vibe & musical courage...hope to see u again soonManu Sauvage, dubwhyzor@noos.fr
