Do you have a copy of the poem you can send me that was previously published on Abstract Audio 6? Your contribution to this compilation album was a track called Gravespit.

I saw you in 1998 at the Twelve Bar Club. I think you must have played a few Thursday nights on the trot. I'd never heard of you, and hadn't been there before either; just saw the place and stepped inside. To say I was gob-smacked is an understatement. I hadn't heard anything like you guys - "I spit on your grave" - but I was there a fortnight later when you played the last night of your 'residency'. Nor have I since. Just got myself a pc, so can now track you down after nearly five years and say thank you for the two best gigs I've ever been to.

I'd just like to ask if you wrote "the works" i saw this video, the united states of poetry and its taken me a year to find out if it was you, even the teacher didnt know. But we figured it out through process of author elimination. anyway... is there anyway you could perhaps send me a link to a place with your poetry?

It is one of numerous projects by Ted Milton (BLURT, Back-To-Normal) and Sam Britton (Icarus). They will be mixing music and text, leaving some room for puppetry.

Hi Ted remember me? I'm the bloke that designed the original screaming pink and blue Blurt posters you used to use on tour in 1979! Was a student at Corsham then: we even met up for a sax jam at my digs on the High Street. Fond memories of you and your music, and I think I've even still got one of those posters somewhere. I still can't forget the bloody mad punch and judy routine you did, pre-blurt if I recall. Love to hear from you- the poster didn't make me famous but I've made a few quid since then. And I'm still overdrawn.

Hallo, this Elch from Nürnberg Germany. Some years ago I was on BLURT concert. GREAT ! So I want to ask you, if BLURT/TED MILTON are going to do concerts in Germany. Even I`m from the KUNSTVEREIN Nürnberg, it would be of interrest for me if BLURT/TED MILTON like to do an concert there. The KUNSTVEREIN Nürnberg exists about 25 years and we do a lot of concerts. So if you would like to send me some information about BLURT/TED MILTON would be quite good. Thank´s ELCH

Kevin Hewick recalls Blurt: I first saw Ted Milton supporting Ian Dury and The Blockheads in 1978. He did this awful punk performance art Punch and Judy puppet show, puerile stuff like one of the puppets drinking snot from the others nose! Jake Milton was, briefly, drummer in a band with none other than Eric Clapton! The Milton brothers shared a flat in Covent Garden with Eric in the mid-Sixties. Tiring of his heavy UK touring schedule with John Mayalls Bluesbreakers Eric took off with Jake and several others in August 1965 in a bus across Europe to Greece where they did one shambolic gig as The Glands(!) Their idea had been to go on to wherever in the bus doing as they pleased but it all fell apart and EC returned to Mayall. I'm not clear how but The Miltons had some connection to Blackhill enterprises who managed the likes of Pink Floyd in the 70's - maybe that's how Blurt got on Blackhill act Roy Harper's tour in 1980? I was meant to do 3 shows on that tour too but Blurt got dropped and I did 3 more in their place. Their Factory Quartet side is very much what they were like live but - and this affected me too - it used up half an album's worth of their material, a big chunk of their stage show. Following his brief adventure with Eric Clapton Jake Milton joined Quintessense - true hippy dippy Krishna types who had several albums out on Island and RCA, quite popular around 69/70. They were known by first names only like Alan on guitar / Jake on drums. They actually had a single out called "Notting Hill Gate" with such lyrics as: "THINGS LOOK GREAT IN NOTTING HILL GATE/THEY ALL SIT AROUND AND MEDITATE.." - I kid you not!(Alan had a rather far out guitar instrumental called "St Pancras" too!) The Quints were much loved by my mums younger brother Joe who was only 6 years older than me, a bit like the older brother I never had (I'm an only child) so I heard a lot of them at the time!. I remember asking Jake about it and he seemed proud of his past so good for him.

Herr Voss : Was macht er denn jetzt ? Dr. Blohm : Er liest einen Text vor. Social Slam Beat nennt man das. Herr Voss : Ich verstehe kein Wort. Dr. Blohm : Es kommt doch nur auf die Soundfarbe an.

There are very very few bands and voices that hold up over a period of 20 years especially those that arose out of punk or disco. Blurt, like the Fall, are one of those anomalous sonic-poetic mysteries, consistently sounding both rudimentary and sophisticated, rhythmic and improvisationally complex, poetic in that both write lyrics that beat 99% of all spoken word. The words allude and instigate, are universal and about things happening right now. Ted Milton is a kind of humanoidal Frankenstein poet combining the inspired lunacy of Leon Thomas and the anarcho beatness of Kenneth Patchen. "In the dank shadow of the church of bank…"

Being completely allergic to the sound of the saxophone (I would happily rate Adolf Sax as "the most evil person with the first name Adolf in history"), I must say that Blurt were one of only 4 groups in history to use the instrument well, the others being Van Der Graaf Generator, Roxy Music and Captain Beefheart. I saw Blurt at the Leeds Futurama festival in 1980 and "My mother was a friend...." is still in my top 20 singles of all time.

Dear Ted, I was totally blown away by Blurt's magnificent Union Chappel gig last week! It is my gig of the year so far! Thanks! I run a club called The Orchestra Pit which, since May this year, has been promoting experimental and adventurous new music on an every other month basis. The events are held at The Arts Café, 28, Commercial St.(near Aldgate East tube). It would be fantastic if Blurt could headline at the club's October event on the 2nd October. I hope to be able to pay between £30-£60 contingent upon attendance. I'm afraid it is not an awful lot but hope you will be interested. It would be good if you could let me know either way by the next event which is Thursday 7th August as I wish to advertise the October show on this day. The bare bones of the Orchestra Pit website is found at www.theorchestrapit.com and only shows details of the August event as of yet. If you'd like to come along to this gig, I will be more than pleased to put you on the guest list. My contact details are below, should you have any questions. In the meantime, I hope this email finds you well. Kind regards. Mark Tel: 020 7306 4085 (work)/020 8374 4478(home)/0775 361 0806 (mobile) home email address: mark.braby@ukonline.co.uk

I love Blurt and always will. I remember speaking to Ted in a gig at the King Henry in Scunthorpe, his comment not mine, he liked my attire (circa 1979/ 80). I was in a bright red jesters jacket with bells on, still one of the best gigs I ever ever witnessed. I still love Cherry Blossom Polish and Kiwi Too and I salute You.

Hi Ted, incredible to see you are playing the Transmusicales... i'm the manager of Metal Urbain, the band that will play right before you, and head of Seventeen records... I was talking about you last saturday to a friend, without knowing we would meet on dec 4, telling him "blurt records needs to be reissued !". I saw you play in Lyon, france, must have been 83/84... we were only a handfull there, but boy we went crazy ! Tell me what's the plan with your discography... in any case, see you dec 4 backstage ! Best

Been a fan since "In Berlin". Glad to see that you are still making a joyful noise!! Is there any chance of reissuing "In Berlin",the self titled one or "Bullets for You"? My vinyl copies are all worn out!! I know you are issuing a best of CD (which I will buy once it comes out). Will you come to North America again? (Pretty please with sugar and a marischino cherry on top!!) Thanks for making some of the most wonderfully whacked noises I have heard yet. I will raise a pint in your honour tonight sir!!

Aloha, I saw Blurt play in a club called Tilos Az A in Budapest, Hungary in 1992, and it was one of the best shows I have ever seen in my life. At the time you played a song you called "Romania." Which album can I find that song on? Thanks! I'm glad to have found you again! Eric Denton Honolulu, Hawaii

HELP !!! Yesterday I saw you in Paris (Nouveau Casino), 20 years after the first time (120 Nuits). The town had changed, I 'd changed and i still love Blurt. I bought to Paul 2 CD's and back to home, tryed to listen it... ARG !!! the home made CD "Where..." , (20 €) signed by Ted Oct 03, contains only one song (3 min). So, would you please tell me if this CD is OK and it is the sleeve price (i can't believe it even if it's pretty) or if i throw the player away ....

Yes; there is just one song on the CD, and 20 euro is a bargain for a handmade work of art of limited edition. Don't you think?

Ted, I think I first saw you at the King Henry VII (Scunthorpe circa 1980, but I thought that I also saw you before either at the Factory or the Futurama, things were a blur at that time)? I was already turned on to "Get" "My Mother." and my favourite "Cherry Blossom Polish" some people I know thought that it was something to do with the Warsaw Pact? I remember meeting you at that Scunthorpe gig as the DJ was a mate of mine and I was dressed in a bright red jesters jacket and when we were introduced your exact words were " I love your attire". You were class (or classless if you prefer), thanks, halcyon days and memories my friend. I saw you a few times since but what are you doing now? I live in Newcastle these days are you planning anything up this neck of the woods?

We're not really flippé but it's just a storical question ! An extended possibility On the 6th : I can guest you for a workshop witch subject is "Your Poetry, your Neighbour's, your perception of Art." Sons and grand'mas... world'madness and today ? ELECTRIC CIRCUS AT BAR LORCA, BRIXTON EVERY FRIDAY FROM 9 - 2 AM Hi, my name's shaun and i'm part of a collective putting on a new live bands night in brixton. the venue is bar lorca - which was formerly the old white horse, a great brixton live venue in the past and, we reckoned, about time it was again. the venue holds about 400 and is a step up from a successful punk night we had on mondays at the windmill in brixton - we're aiming to have the same feel at bar lorca, but broadening the music out to include hip hop, reggae and - well, fucking anything we like the sound of basically. we're looking to encourage new bands, especially bands no-one else will have, as well as bigger names and long established bands ... so if you fancy a gig, we'd love to have you! let us know if you're interested and when you're available, and we'll give you more details ... cheers shaun
