5,021 by GJH - THE calling of Grandsire Caters for Bath ringers. George was a ringer at St Michaels Bath, and composed this in the early 1950's. It has subsequently been rung many times in and around the Bath area. It may now be a bit old fashioned, but if you want a traditional tittums and hand calling giving all 24 courses of each then this is the one for you. The 4th would seem to be the key bell. If it is second or thirds place bell at the last call of a 123, then that call is a single - otherwise its a bob (except for * where a single is called).

I was working on an all the music type composition and ended up with this. It has all of the following courses

Perhaps I should have said that it was arranged by me, as I freely admit that I have borrowed at least a chunk of it from elsewhere (the final section is found in Albert Tylers 'All the Music'. With so many composers going over the same ground, can anyone claim 'composed by' anymore??

I called this one to a local band peal on 8th February 2003. No handstrokes and no traditional type tittums, but a whole host of near misses, plenty of rollups and echo's of the tittums course ends make it a pleasant alternative to the usual half and half. The idea for this came from a quarter I composed about 10 years ago.

I like this one. I thought I had composed it, but it now seems that I had been beaten to it by Don Morrison, and he thinks it wasn't original to him!! Anyway, I have called it twice at Bathwick and each time the ringing has gone well and we have got an above average peal. The tenors split between tittums and backstrokes giving the variety needed to stave off the terminal boredom usually found in a peal of Plain Bob.
