The Evolution of my Audio Setup

When I started my journey back to audio, I acquired modest equipment consisting of a CD player, integrated solid state amplifier, and a pair of speakers. I had an unused room which I converted to an audio room.

The modest equipment is made up of the following:

  • Source: Harman Kardon HD-750 HDCD player
  • Amplification: Fase Evoluzione Audio PF45
  • Speakers: Infinity Kappa 200 @ 89dB/1w/1m sensitivity.
  • Cables/interconnects: IXOS speaker wire and interconnects
  • Since my Fase has a built-in MM phonostage, I went back to analog and purchased a Technics turntable, which I used for several months. However, my audio room is on the second floor, which has suspended floors. I have problems with vibration when I walk around the room which causes skips. At this time, I decided I needed a turntable with suspension.

I had an opportunity to acquire a pre-owned Oracle Delphi Mk II fitted with SME Series III. I asked the dealer to put in a Clearaudio Aurum Alpha MM cartridge and I like what I hear.

Moving forward, I was inspired by this DIY article at TNT Audio and I decided to make my own version, made with acrylic shelves and was featured in the same site. More information on how to make this can be found here.

This is how my setup looks with the Oracle Delphi. Ok, time to talk about the room - it measures 4m x 4m x 3.5m high - not ideal at all.
