Overview:
Who We Are
The Southern Oregon Humane Society was incorporated in 1928 and to protect and safeguard the welfare of companion animals in Jackson County, Oregon. The Society still occupies the same facility today as it did in its early days. Over time, the Society's mission has grown to encompass community-wide education in the prevention of cruelty to animals, proper animal care and handling, and the importance of reducing pet-overpopulation problems through innovative spay/neuter programs.

Our Mission
The Southern Oregon Humane Society is a non-profit corporation dedicated to the humane treatment of dogs and cats in Jackson County. We serve the community by providing shelter and adoption services for displaced pets, by reducing pet over-population through spay and neuter programs, by providing humane education and by our commitment to a "full adoption" policy for our shelter.

Our Vision
We envision a community in which all animals are treated humanely. We value the social bond between humans and animals, a healthy and safe existence for all animals, and the compassionate and responsible treatment of companion and other animals..

Our Programs
The Society is committed to improving the lives of pets and people in Southern Oregon, while promoting the compassionate and responsible treatment of all beings. From adoption programs for pets whose owners are no longer able to care for them, to delivering violence prevention and humane education programs to children and youth from all walks of life, the Society is a leader in providing innovative services and programs impacting thousands of pets and people each year.
