Incoming Pets:
The Southern Oregon Humane Society accepts owner-surrendered pets from
throughout the Southern Oregon region with an emphasis on Jackson
County. As a "full adoption" facility, we limit our acceptance to only
adoptable animals; those to whom we can make a life-long commitment
for placement.
If you have a pet you must surrender for re-homing, we accept adoptable
pets as our space allows. First call us at (541) 779-3215 to inquire about
our current openings and to tell us a little about your pet. If space is
available and your pet fits our initial criteria for adoptability, then we will
make the required appointment for you to bring in your pet for further
evaluation and consideration.
At the appointment, your pet is then evaluated by our trained staff prior to
final acceptance into our adoption program. You will be asked to complete a
form describing your pet's personality to aid in finding it the best and most
appropriate home. Once the pet is accepted, we make a commitment to keep the
pet until it is placed into a new home. Whether that's two days or two years, as
long as the pet continues to fit our adoptability criteria, it is guaranteed
placement into a new home. A small fee is charged upon acceptance of the pet
into our adoption program: $20 for adult cats or litter of kittens; $25 for adult
dogs or litter of puppies.
