Fast Facts:
The Southern Oregon Humane Society is a private, not-for-profit
organization established in 1928, that cares for more than 80 pets each
day and approximately 700 owner-surrendered pets each year.
Each pet costs an average of $10 per day to care for. All pets are
vaccinated and spayed or neutered before being released into their new
home. Time limits are not placed on the lives of pets at the Southern
Oregon Humane Society. Animals are never euthanised to make room for
more.
Your tax-deductible contributions to the Southern Oregon Humane
Society ensure that local programs and services so vital to our area are
carried out. The Society does not receive funding from tax dollars or any
other humane society or animal care agency. All of the funds needed to
provide our life-saving services and programs is from individuals,
corporate and business support and private foundations.
When you make a contribution to national organizations, such as the
Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the American Humane
Association, (AHA) or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty
to Animals (ASPCA), People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA),
the Southern Oregon Humane Society does not receive any portion of
your gift.
The Southern Oregon Humane Society is committed to educating the
community about responsible pet care and the humane treatment of all
beings. Education programs offered by the Society include Teaching Love
and Compassion (for at-risk middle school youth), the Pet Care Club (for
5th grade students), and the Pets n' Pals Day Camp (for youth ages 5 to
10 years).
